"Sarcastically admitting" - - Yah, I'm cool

Ane's Most Embarrassing Moment #214
So, 2 weeks ago, in school, Brady was playing on the playground and got himself this nice, round blister on the palm of his left hand. He couldn't leave well enough alone and starting picking at it. . making it fester and get red & irriated. Well, as of yesterday, he had a HUGE yellow pus pocket and an infection where the blister once was. It was pretty gross. So we tried to play doctor over the weekend will no avail - so today ( sunday) Chunk says, "you need to take Brady to Insta-care. His hand looks bad." And it did! It was nasty!!
Well, if any of you REALLY REALLY REALLY know me, you know that the sight of a needle causes my heart to palpitate, my breathing to get ragged and my knees involuntarily get weak and quiver to the point I think I'm going to vomit! So, Yes, I nearly have a heart attack every time I see one. (THANK GOODNESS, i've NEVER seen an epidural!!!)
Anyways, so the doctor comes in and says he's going to have to lance it and squeeze the diabolical stuff out. Of course, to my dismay, Brady pleads with me, "MOM, PLEASE will you stand by me?" How can I say no? So I said yes and I stand there.
I told myself i'm not going to look, i'm not going to look. The doc brings a nurse in to help. So we're standing there, Brady's panicking that its going to hurt and the nurse is talking to him very soothingly and doing a good job of distracting him as I stand to the side of him holding his other hand.
the nurse distracted Brady perfectly, but it didn't quite work with me - - I did the thing I PROMISED I WOULDN'T - - I Looked!
I think I was holding my breath because I kept thinking that it was taking an awfully long time!
I was curious to see if it was going to be much longer - - and then the smell hit my nose. So first the smell, then the I see the needle and then the gunk & blood bubbling up out of Brady's hand. .
And the room started to get smaller. . . my head starting to ache. . .my stomach was nauceous and I couldn't breath!! I NEARLY PASSED OUT!!!
I mumbled ' i think i need to sit down' and i stumbled over to the chair. The nurse ended up having to sit with me while Brady finished getting his hand taken care of and chatting happily with the doctor like they were old friends.
I'VE NEVER DONE THAT BEFORE. EVER! I was soooo embarrassed. The nurse made me sit and wait until she was sure I wouldn't pass out driving home. I think she was tempted to give me a popcicle too ;).
Brady just laughed and said, "I can't wait to tell Dad that you almost fainted in the Doctor's office" - - so welcome to the life and times of Ane! LOL!!
so my hat is off to all of you in the medical field with stomachs of iron and nerves of steel! I salute you!

I'm glad you didn't fall down and hit your head!
You've experienced what I've always believed to be the true issue with the epidural. The smell.
Cam has had to sit down and take a breather each birth while my mom (the nurse) takes over. LOL

That is sooo great!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I don't really mind the needle, but for some reason the blood tends to get to me a little. I think the smell would probably have made me vomit!

That's happened to me too, so I guess I'm just as cool as you are except that I'm up on you times three because I actually did past out 3 times! Once the ambulance came to the house, 2nd in the Dr.'s office and the other time in our home again. Now I just don't pretend to be brave anymore I just leave the room. ;o)

haha!! You're crazy! I love it! I'm glad I'm not the only one in YW's that's prone to making a fool of herself (in a good, funny way, of course!) haha
