We should all live in a bubble :)

So yesterday, Brady & Colby come home and start singing this song they heard in their carpool car. And I was like, "what's that song?" And Brady says, "Haven't you heard of 'Funhouse' by Pink?"
And being the complete Bubble Girl (and I don't mean blonde or air-head, it means I live in a bubble with no working radio, the speakers on our PC don't work unless we sneak on Kelly's PC and my car radio only gets 3 stations so I don't know very many new songs that have come out or whatever) I said, "No."
And they were soooooo excited they raced onto the computer to Youtube to show me the song.
So we're listening, they're singing and bouncing away and then all the sudden. . .
THE F* BOMB GETS DROPPED!

We all just kinda look at each other and went 'uh. . . . '
Brady was HORRIFIED. He's like, "mom! i didn't know she said that! honest." And Colby (being Colby) was like, "what? What did she say?" is elementary dropping f*bombs now?? lol

So Brady - being the sweetheart that he is - says, "that's it. I'm never listening to that song or that girl again." I'm like, "well, she has some good songs. That's just one I don't EVER want you to listen to again." And the boys were kinda bummed, but they knew they shouldn't listen to bad words.

So this morning (this is so funny) Brady & Colby jump in the carpool car to go to school and the mom turns the Funhouse song on. Brady & Colby (this is from the mom) their eyes got real big and Brady pipes up, " My mom said we can't listen to this song any more cuz it has bad words."

This mom, nicole, felt soooo bad. She knew that I didn't know it was one of those edited CD's. So Nicole calls me up and is so embarrassed. She kept saying, "it's edited! i only buy edited CD's. I'm so sorry!" and we just laughed about it. She felt so bad cuz she thought I kept thinking they were listening to these horrible songs & words and she only buys them edited for the kids. LOL!!!

But I'm proud of Brady for sticking up for himself. Colby just wanted to hear the Evil Clowns line (whatever that is) But I thought it was pretty funny.
It's sad that I feel like I have to make my kids live in a bubble because the world is so scary out there! But that's ok, because the more opposition they have, they stronger they'll be :).

A bubble is certainly nice. This brings back memories of "Revenge of the Nerds". I had seen "the TV version" a million times growing up, so I didn't really think to check the rating on the DVD release.Thankfully I was not watching it with my kids;I had no idea the panty raid scene was that graphic. Sometimes I think having all these "edited" versions just makes it that much easier for kids to rationalize that it's not that bad.BTW,how did you explain "lovely lady lumps"-Black Eyed Peas,to Brady.
