So my mom was helping me with my shopping today and agreed to meet me & the boys at the Trax station halfway between us. While we were loading up the car, a group of people walked by who had Down Syndrome. The one guy said very boisterously "HI!!!" And I waved and said Hi back. I'm sure Brady was thinking, "How does she know this guy?"
Here's the funny part!
My mom is trying to explain to Brady & Colby what down syndrome is and how it affects people.
My Mom: They're just like you & me. They just have down syndrome which means they are mentally retarded.
Colby: What's retarded?
My Mom: Um. . .
Me (interuppting) : It means that even though they have grown up bodies - they think like little kids
My Mom: They're slow. . .
Colby: So you're retarded grandma? LOL!!!
